Karl Magnus Svensson Pääjärvi (born 12 April ), surname also known as Pääjärvi-Svensson, is a Swedish professional ice hockeyleft winger, currently playing for Timrå IK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). During his NHL career, Pääjärvi played for the Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators. He was drafted 10th overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
Early life
[edit]Pääjärvi is the son of former ice hockey player and coach Gunnar Svensson and Ingrid Maria Svensson-Pääjärvi, and the younger brother of Björn Svensson. Magnus Pääjärvi was born in Sweden while his father Gunnar was the coach and manager of IK Vita Hästen. Magnus uses the surname, formerly a hyphenated surname, in honour of his maternal grandfather, who was Finnish.[1]

[edit]Pääjärvi began playing ice hockey at the age of six. During the –06 season, as a year-old, he made his debut for malm Redhawks in the J20 SuperElit,[2] and scored eight goals in eight games during TV-pucken, leding Skåne to a silver medal. He also scored two goals when Malmö won the

Biographie

[modifier | modifier le code]Magnus commence le hockey à l'âge de six ans. Il rejoint le Malmö Redhawks en et s'aguérit dans les championnats de jeunes. En , il débute dans l'Elitserien avec le Timrå IK où il retrouve son frère Björn. Au cours du repêchage d'entrée dans la KHL , il est sélectionné en 1erronde, en 19eposition par le Lokomotiv Iaroslavl.
Lors du repêchage d'entrée dans la LNH , il est acquis au premier tour, en 10echoix au total par les Oilers d'Edmonton. Il part en Amérique du Nord en Il débute en Ligue nationale de hockey avec les Oilers lors de la saison Il inscrit son premier but en LNH le lors de la rencontre contre les Flames de Calgary.
Le , il est échangé par les Oilers en compagnie d'un choix de deuxième ronde aux Blues de Saint-Louis en retour de David Perron[3].
Le , il est réclamé au ballottage par les Sénateurs d'Ottawa.
