Indalsälvens delta
Historik
Ett litet delta fanns redan i början av talet, men det växte till dramatiskt sommaren Då tömdes Ragundasjön av "Vildhussen" och även Döda fallet i Ragunda kom till. Det tog fyra timmar för den upp till 20 meter höga flodvågen att nå havet. Älven är reglerad sedan med flera kraftverksdammar och numera sker mest en omfördelning av sand och lerpartiklar inom deltat.
Den mest aktiva delen av deltat är utanför Sörån vid Måsgrundsholmen där en viss påbyggnad sker. Indalsälvens stränder är också beroende av de variationer som finns i havets vattenstånd. Nivån i havet kan variera upp till en dryg meter beroende på vindar och tryckförhållanden.
Flora och fauna
Deltat är således ett verk av både geologisk utveckling och mänsklig påverkan. Området är av stort värde för naturvården och botanister, mykologer, ornitologer, paddlare, badgäster och fiskare får alla sitt lystmäte i en vacker och särpräglad natur. Fisket är bra med sik, havsöring, lax och harr och fiskekort finns att köpa på ortens mackar.
